The ecumenical movement

Picture: Christians of this world

The One Church of Jesus Christ always only exists in the great variety and mutual interaction of the Christians of this world. This realization has become an obligation for the ecumenical movement, which strives for a reconciled interaction of Christians of different denominations.
The goal of the ecumenical movement is not to level out all differences in a standardized world church, but unity in "reconciled diversity", in which every denomination contributes its essential knowledge to the conjoint witness of Christians before the world.
In our regional church, ecumenical work takes place on various levels: in practical work with the grass roots, in inter-confessional research and in official inter-church contacts and talks.
